the scrawl continues

I stare into the night
The wires lie still
The ether empty and silent,
Not a signal
Not a sound.
Without a word
Without a forecast
With but an omen of what might come
I have prayed
For unsalted rain,
And on faith
Have broken ground.
In the hope
In the hope
In the hope
You will sow the seed.
Seed that given time and loyal tending
Given time and given care
Will offer forth the bounty
That will save these starving souls.
That in the bliss of plenty
We might strum the idle wires
And fill the empty air
With our song of joyous harvest
Our hymn to heart and happiness
Of perseverance and care.
